Listen to Your True Nature

April 3, 2017

I love silence. I love tranquility. I love my feelings.I cannot say that I always have.My life was a freight train with no brakes, no controls, and a high pitched squeal from the friction of the wheels and the track.Chaos.Since I knew nothing else, no better way, I believed this to be the only way.I believed life was supposed to be a train wreck in waiting.I believed in my own chaos.I loved my chaos. I Identified with my chaos. But my chaos did not love me back.I crashed. The mangled steel of the train, the misshapen tracks underneath, the fluids leaking […]

Neglect One, Neglect All

April 2, 2017

Mind.Body.Soul. They all work together. Neglect one. Neglect them all. Feed one. Feed them all. God has given you a soul and a mind, which are housed in a human body. Take care of it. It’s the only one you’ve got. Mike Kitko is a former United States Marine, a former Business Executive, and a former failure. I coach and support Veteran business owners through life, business, and military transition challenges, so that they feel as significant and successful in the civilian world as they felt as a warrior. I coach and motivate others to avoid and overcome the challenges […]

And Another Door Opens

April 2, 2017

Today I replaced a door handle assembly. It took me 15 mins. You would have had no idea why that’s notable, but it’s been broken for about 8 months. I fear home repair projects. All of them. Any of them. I hate them. In the past, I have fallen short on most projects. I have zero confidence in my ability to repair things. I never had confidence in this area. I avoid home repair like a disease. Pure terror. I am grateful to have a neighbor who enjoys fixing things and bails me out a lot. He is a fantastic […]

Stop Whispering to the World

April 2, 2017

I am not valuable. I am not worthy. I have nothing to offer. That is how many people sleepwalk through life. Many live in a world where they lack appreciation for themselves, their talents, gifts, and values. Many just believe what they have inside them, what they have to offer… …is just average. I used to believe I was different. I would see people sharing their gifts with the world. I would see them speaking, and people were listening. Others taught, inspired, motivated, and shared their gifts with the world. And I felt that they were different. They had something […]

365 Days in a Row!

April 1, 2017

Just finished up 50 laps in the pool at the YMCA. That makes 365 days in a row of physical activity, weighing in down 75 lbs. Mind quiet, clear, and disciplined ✔️Spirit connected and dialed in ✔️Body performing at high level ✔️ I started with running .5 miles a day, and felt like I was about to die doing that.Built from there. It’s about the action, not the outcome. Now I’m ready for the next 365 days. I’ve had 3 people people tell me they could never accomplish the same. Yeah, neither could I when I had convinced myself I […]

A Year’s Journey…

April 1, 2017

A year ago today I decided to go on a journey. I decided to put the past in the past and decided that I wasn’t the husband, father, and person I wanted to be. I hit rock bottom in all areas of life. I decided to love myself. I could be anyone I wanted to be. I hated myself, but I convinced myself that I was worthy of better. I’ve learned that when you infinitely, unconditionally, and unapologetically love yourself, you cause yourself no harm, and you desire to take care of your mind, body, and spirit daily… …and that […]

Is Your Record Stuck?

April 1, 2017

“Which two do you want, Mike”? I picked Kiss, Destroyer and Donnie and Marie Osmond, Going Coconuts. It was 1979, and we were ordering from a record club order form. There were 5 people in my house at the time, and we had 11 selections from which to choose. Each of us made two picks, and my father picked three. I made my choices. I was pretty proud of them. On Saturday mornings my friend Robbie would come over, and we would play army men, GI Joe, and listen to Kiss, Destroyer. We listened to that album over and over… We […]

Life is a Just a Playground.

March 31, 2017

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated”.   -Confucius I am guilty of making life harder than it is. Maybe it’s because I want to believe that it cannot be easy.   Just like I was taught.   When I look back at my life, I recognize so many self-destructive behaviors, actions, and decisions that I made that caused me pain. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. I get it. We all know the basic principles of a well-lived life… Like attracts like. Gratitude is the foundation of prosperity. Worry never solves problems. Create, not destroy. Add […]

Fear is a Filthy Liar

March 30, 2017

Fear. Fear is a filthy liar. Your brain’s primary job… duty, responsibility… is to keep you safe. Alive. Stagnant. Exactly where you are. In order to do this, your brain creates ‘what-ifs.’ Some dismiss this as anxiety. Some just say it is ‘natural.’ Some believe it is just how life is ‘supposed’ to be. What if they don’t like me? What if everyone abandons me? What if no one believes me? What if I fail? What if I am exposed as a fraud? What if the walls fall in? What if the ceiling collapses? What if I die? What if […]
